Tips on IDV Calculation
The Insured Declared Value (IDV) is the maximum sum assured fixed by the insurer. For a brand new MG Windsor, the IDV is typically calculated at 95% of the ex-showroom price. Over time, depreciation applies:
- Up to 6 months: 5% depreciation
- 6 months to 1 year: 15% depreciation
- 1 to 2 years: 20% depreciation
- 2 to 3 years: 30% depreciation
Tip: Always opt for 'Zero Depreciation' (Bumper-to-Bumper) add-on for the first 3-5 years to ensure you get full claim value without deductions for plastic, glass, or rubber parts.
