Hyundai Bayon launched in India on October 26, 2026, with an introductory ex-showroom price of Rs 9,99,900. The new SUV sits between the Venue and Creta in Hyundai's India portfolio and brings a 1.5-litre petrol engine, two 12.3-inch displays, connected technology and an available Level 2 Pro ADAS package to a crowded mid-size SUV segment.
Bookings are open through Hyundai's official website and authorised dealerships for Rs 11,000. Hyundai says deliveries are expected during the festive season. The introductory price and availability should be confirmed with a dealer before making a payment because registration, insurance and dealer-level charges vary by city.

Engine, gearbox and dimensions
The India-spec Bayon uses Hyundai's 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder MPi petrol engine. It produces 115 PS and 143.8 Nm and is available with a 6-speed manual or Hyundai's Intelligent Variable Transmission. The iVT versions get Dash Boost Mode, Sporty Drive Tech and selectable Eco, Normal and Sport modes.
The SUV measures 4,245 mm long, 1,810 mm wide and 1,605 mm tall with roof rails. Its 2,600 mm wheelbase, 205 mm ground clearance, 5.16-metre turning radius and 505-litre boot make it relevant for both city use and family travel. These numbers matter more than styling for buyers who regularly carry luggage or deal with uneven urban roads.
Technology and safety highlights
Hyundai's headline feature is its first generative AI voice assistant in India, built with Intelligence by Perplexity and voice technology from SoundHound AI. The system is designed to answer questions and help with information such as travel, weather, restaurants, hotels, news and sports. The car also gets more than 70 Bluelink features, over-the-air updates, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a Bose audio system and support for regional languages.
The safety package includes six airbags, ESC, hill-start assist, TPMS, ISOFIX mounts, all-wheel disc brakes, a surround-view monitor and a blind-spot view monitor. Higher variants add Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 Pro ADAS with 23 assistance features, three radars and 12 parking sensors. Hyundai describes the vehicle as engineered for 5-star Indian safety standards; that statement should not be confused with an independently published Bharat NCAP star result. Check the official Bharat NCAP ratings before treating any safety claim as a crash-test result.
Should you buy the Hyundai Bayon?
The Bayon's strongest case is its equipment: a 115 PS engine, automatic option, large displays, 505-litre boot and advanced safety technology at a price that starts below the Creta. The HX5 and HX6 grades look like the sensible middle of the range because they add useful comfort and technology without immediately reaching the Rs 16-18 lakh bracket.
The key questions are whether you need the extra space and features over the Venue, whether the iVT suits your driving style, and whether the ADAS hardware is included in the exact variant you want. The Bayon competes with the Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra and Renault Duster, so a proper comparison should include price, fuel economy, crash-test applicability, service cost and the final on-road price in your city.
